Today, Premiere Urgence (PU) has launched its first distributions to IDP’s in Tbilisi. 700 beds and 700 blankets provided by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the first humanitarian flight are being distributed in 8 schools sheltering Georgians fleeing the fighting areas.
4,000 IDPs have already found refuge in Tbilisi living in secondary schools, kindergartens and public buildings. Première Urgence’s support to the conflict affected population is narrowly coordinate with the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Georgian Ministry of IDP’s.
Premiere Urgence has been working in Georgia since 1994. PU will continue to support vulnerable displaced people in all affected areas.
